What Can I do to Maintain Good Mental Health?
Remember that having good mental health takes determination, commitment, and time. Some suggestions may help right away, but others may require more effort and/or lifestyle changes.
- Maintain balance in your life. Get enough sleep, eat nutritious foods, and exercise, and remember to make time for the things you enjoy.
- Keep the lines of communication open and maintain good relationships with loved ones. Talk to them about your feelings, and listen to what they have to say.
- Find ways to reduce stress in your life. Feeling overburdened and disorganized leads to stress, so set priorities and be timely with your tasks.
- Pay attention to your physical and emotional health — how you feel physically can affect how you feel emotionally, and vice versa.
- Be sure to talk to your doctor or a mental health professional if you feel you need additional help or guidance.
