What Should I do if I have Asthma?
If you have already been diagnosed with asthma and your doctor has prescribed medication, it is very important that you take your asthma medication as your doctor prescribes. Some asthma medicines are to treat attacks (such as rescue inhalers). Some need to be taken daily, even during times when you aren’t experiencing any symptoms. Be sure to talk to your doctor or pharmacist about how your medicine should be taken. Appropriate treatment of asthma helps prevent serious asthma attacks that may be life threatening and require hospitalization.
Talk to your doctor about how you can make sure your asthma condition is under control. Most important, if you have an asthma attack and your medicine does not seem to be making you feel better in the usual amount of time, you should call your doctor.
